Missing Man Found Dead in Tank; Wife Among Suspects

A 42-year-old man who had been missing since June 2 was discovered dead in a water tank near Malpura under the Sadar police station area in Barmer district on Thursday. The victim's family has accused his wife of murder and dumping his body in the tank.

Victim Identified

The deceased has been identified as Tejaram, a resident of Garal village. According to police, Tejaram left Jalor on June 2 after work, intending to return to his village in Barmer, but he never arrived home. His body was found in a tank near the Malpura-Nokhda road after local villagers noticed an abandoned bag nearby and alerted authorities.

Police Investigation

Officers recovered the body, searched the bag, and contacted the family. The body was subsequently shifted to the mortuary of Barmer Hospital. SHO Kartarsingh stated that a postmortem examination is being conducted by a medical board. He confirmed that the family has expressed suspicion against the deceased's wife, and the matter is under investigation.

Family Allegations

The deceased's brother, Mahesharam, alleged that Tejaram had been involved in a dispute with his wife over her alleged extramarital relationship. He claimed that several community-level meetings had been held in recent days to resolve the issue. Mahesharam named Neembaram, Gumansingh, and Tejaram's wife, Chital Devi, as suspects. He further alleged that Chital Devi spent the night of June 2 outside the house with her two children and returned the following morning. Additionally, he claimed that the accused removed Tejaram's bag and mobile phone from the spot before leaving the body behind.

Mahesharam reiterated that Tejaram had a dispute with his wife over her alleged extramarital relationship and that several panchayat meetings had been convened recently. He again named Neembaram, Gumansingh, and Chital Devi as suspects. He also alleged that Chital Devi was away from home on the night of June 2 with her two children and came back the next morning. The family further alleged that the accused took Tejaram's mobile phone from the scene before abandoning his body in the tank.
