Governor Nazeer Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Puttur Court Complex

In a significant development for Karnataka's judicial infrastructure, Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer inaugurated a modern new court complex in Puttur on Saturday. The governor emphasized that courts fundamentally operate to provide constitutional justice to common citizens, serving as pillars of the legal system.

Modern Infrastructure for Timely Justice Delivery

Governor Nazeer highlighted the critical importance of contemporary buildings and advanced technology in enabling courts to deliver swift justice. "The court symbolises the administration of law and works to deliver justice to everyone against injustice in society," he stated during the inauguration ceremony. "Modern facilities are essential for courts to provide quick justice to people."

The newly inaugurated Puttur court complex represents this vision with its impressive architecture and facilities. Constructed at a cost of Rs 51.9 crore on 4.8 acres at Anemajal in Puttur, the complex houses 12 courtrooms in a modern design that has drawn widespread appreciation.

Constitutional Legacy and Judicial Values

Reflecting on constitutional history, Governor Nazeer noted the significant contributions of Benegal Narsing Rau from Dakshina Kannada during the Constitution's drafting phase. He mentioned that Rau incorporated several crucial elements into the document, with his efforts being acknowledged by BR Ambedkar himself.

Karnataka Chief Justice Justice Vibhu Bakhru complemented the infrastructure discussion by emphasizing that beyond physical facilities, the integrity of judges, dedication of lawyers, and commitment of court staff remain paramount for effective justice delivery.

Expanding Judicial Infrastructure Across Dakshina Kannada

Dakshina Kannada district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao revealed that the Puttur court building now stands as the largest taluk-level court complex in Karnataka. He assured that the government would provide comprehensive support for all necessary facilities at the new complex.

The judicial infrastructure expansion extends beyond Puttur with several projects underway:

  • A new court building block in Mangaluru has been approved at a cost of Rs 60 crore
  • The tender process for a new court building in Belthangady costing Rs 9 crore is currently in progress

Call for High Court Bench in Mangaluru

Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta raised the longstanding demand for establishing a High Court bench in Mangaluru during the event, highlighting the region's growing need for enhanced judicial accessibility.

The inauguration ceremony saw participation from numerous dignitaries including Principal District and Sessions Judge Basavaraj, Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai, High Court Registrar General Bharath Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Darshan HV, and Puttur Bar Association President Jagannath Rai.

This modern judicial facility represents a significant step forward in strengthening Karnataka's legal infrastructure while honoring the constitutional principles that form the foundation of India's justice system.
