A devastating road accident resulted in the tragic deaths of a 45-year-old woman and her 25-year-old son when their car caught fire after a head-on collision with a truck in Beed district on Friday afternoon. According to police reports, a speeding tipper truck collided head-on with the victims' car with tremendous force. Victims Identified as Promising Young Graduate and His Mother
The deceased have been identified as Pushpa Shrihari Puri and her son Rishikesh, residents of Salegaon in Kej taluka. Rishikesh had recently completed his Chartered Accountant studies and was poised to begin his professional career, making the loss particularly poignant for the community.
The victims are the wife and son of Shrihari Puri Maharaj, a gram sevak with Ashti panchayat samiti and a well-known kirtankar. At the time of the accident, he was attending a kirtan programme in a nearby village, unaware of the tragedy unfolding.

Police and fire brigade personnel responded promptly after being alerted to the incident. However, it took approximately two hours of continuous efforts to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage. Rescue teams had to cut through mangled metal and douse the flames before they could access the victims.
The duo was traveling from Ashti towards Beed for personal work when the collision occurred. Police have registered a case against the driver of the tipper truck for rash and negligent driving, along with causing death due to negligence.
