A 35-year-old man in Mumbai was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife's lover after inviting him to his home for drinks. The incident took place in the Mankhurd area, and the accused was nabbed within three hours of the crime, police said on Wednesday.
Details of the Incident
The accused, identified as Ramdas Shinde, suspected his wife of having an extramarital affair with the victim, a 40-year-old man. On Tuesday night, Shinde allegedly called the victim to his residence under the pretext of having a drink together. During the meeting, an argument broke out, and Shinde reportedly attacked the victim with a sharp object, killing him on the spot.
Police Investigation and Arrest
After committing the crime, Shinde fled the scene. However, the police launched a swift investigation based on a complaint filed by the victim's family. Using technical surveillance and local intelligence, the police traced Shinde to a nearby area and arrested him within three hours of the murder.
Police officials stated that the accused confessed to the crime during interrogation. He claimed that he had been suspecting his wife's relationship with the victim for some time and was unable to bear the humiliation.
Legal Proceedings
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder. The accused has been remanded to police custody for further investigation. The victim's body was sent for post-mortem examination.
