Teen Abducted in Bhiwani; POCSO Case Link Suspected

Bhiwani Abduction Case

An 18-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from outside her residence in Haryana's Bhiwani district on Thursday afternoon. The family has claimed that the incident is linked to a pending Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act case involving one of the accused.

According to the complaint lodged with the police, the girl was outside her home at around 1:45 pm when two youths arrived in a car and forcibly took her away. The family has named a youth from Charkhi Dadri and another local resident as suspects in the abduction.

In 2025, the family had alleged that the girl was abducted and sexually assaulted, following which a case under the POCSO Act was registered. That case is currently pending in court. Family members alleged that the accused had been pressuring the girl to withdraw the case and threatening her over the phone. They suspect that the latest incident was aimed at intimidating the victim and influencing the ongoing trial.

Police Response

Police officials stated that an FIR has been registered and multiple teams have been deployed to trace the girl and the accused. SHO Omprakash said that the suspects' mobile phones were switched off, but technical surveillance and tracking efforts are underway. The car allegedly used in the incident is registered in the name of a resident of Charkhi Dadri, and his son is suspected to have taken the vehicle.

The other accused had earlier been booked under the POCSO Act in 2025 and is believed to be staying with relatives in Farrukhnagar. Raids are being conducted at multiple locations, and police have said that strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that could help in the investigation. The case has raised concerns about the safety of women and the effectiveness of the legal process in protecting victims of sexual offences.
