In Shivamogga, a murder accused was shot in the leg by police after he attacked a constable while attempting to escape. The incident occurred in Vajapayee layout, where the accused, identified as Kishore, was hiding following the murder of his grandmother, Susheelamma.
Background of the Crime
According to police sources, Kishore murdered his grandmother Susheelamma after she advised him not to consume ganja (cannabis). Acting on a tip-off, a police team rushed to Vajapayee layout to apprehend him. During the operation, Kishore allegedly attacked a constable with a sharp weapon, injuring him.
Police Action
In response to the attack, police fired a warning shot and then shot Kishore in the leg to subdue him. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injured constable is also receiving medical care. Police have registered a case and are investigating further.
Senior police officials stated that the use of force was necessary to prevent further harm. The accused is in custody and will be produced before a court.
