Nagpur Man Murdered with Stone After Dispute in Narkhed

A 29-year-old man was allegedly murdered after his head was smashed with a stone following a dispute in Narkhed, police said on Thursday.

Incident Details

According to police, the victim was identified as Raju Uike, a resident of Sardi Pithori village in Narkhed taluka. His body was discovered near the weekly market area at Narkhed on May 9. Initially, the Narkhed Police Station registered a case of accidental death and began an investigation.

Investigation Reveals Murder

During the probe, statements of witnesses and evidence collected from the scene indicated that the death was not accidental but a case of murder. Police said the accused, identified as Anil Uike (29), allegedly got into a fight with the deceased before assaulting him.

Investigators stated that the accused allegedly pushed Raju to the ground and then attacked him with a stone, crushing his head and killing him on the spot.

Legal Proceedings

Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased's brother, Amol Uike (28), police registered a murder case. Police immediately detained and arrested the accused on May 11. He was later produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody till May 13.

Further investigation is ongoing.
