Land Dispute Violence Erupts in Nalanda District: Two Shootings in 24 Hours Leave One Dead, One Critical

In a disturbing escalation of violence linked to property conflicts, criminals opened fire on two individuals in separate incidents within the Hilsa police station area of Nalanda district over the past 24 hours. The attacks have resulted in one fatality and left another victim fighting for his life in critical condition.

Construction Worker Gunned Down Over Village Clash

The first tragic incident occurred on Saturday evening, claiming the life of 30-year-old earthmover operator Kuldeep Yadav. A resident of Chatra district in Jharkhand, Yadav was engaged in construction work when he was targeted by armed assailants.

Upon receiving information about the murder, Hilsa SDPO-1 Shailja immediately arrived at the scene to begin investigations. "Preliminary investigation and statements from people in the vicinity revealed that a clash took place between two groups in a nearby village over a land dispute," stated SDPO Shailja. "The criminals came to question him about the incident after which the clash took place. During the confrontation, the criminals opened fire, killing Kuldeep on the spot."

The police official expressed confidence that "the case will be solved soon" as investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses connected to the violent altercation.

Property Dealer Shot During Morning Walk

In a separate but similarly motivated attack, 35-year-old property dealer Bhushan Yadav became the target of violence on Sunday morning. While taking his routine morning walk in the West Bypass area, three assailants opened fire on him, leaving him with serious gunshot wounds.

Family members quickly rushed the injured property dealer to the sub-divisional hospital, where medical professionals determined his condition required more advanced care. Doctors subsequently referred him to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for specialized treatment.

Bhushan Yadav is the son of Nandlal Yadav, a resident of Belwa Bagh within the Hilsa police station jurisdiction. Hilsa additional SHO Rakesh Kumar confirmed that "the police have begun a probe into the incident" and noted that the victim's family had transported him to Patna for medical attention.

"Prima facie, the case appears to be linked to a land dispute as Bhushan is a property dealer," explained Additional SHO Kumar. "The situation will become clearer after receiving a written application from Bhushan's family, which will provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the attack."

Pattern of Land-Related Violence Emerges

The back-to-back shootings within a single day highlight a troubling pattern of violence connected to property disputes in the region. Both incidents share several concerning similarities:

  • Both attacks occurred within the Hilsa police station area of Nalanda district
  • Both victims were targeted by armed criminals using firearms
  • Preliminary investigations point to land disputes as the primary motive in both cases
  • The attacks happened within a 24-hour timeframe, suggesting possible escalation of tensions

Police authorities have intensified their investigative efforts in response to these violent incidents, with multiple teams working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for both shootings. The proximity of the attacks in both time and location has raised concerns about potential connections between the two cases, though officials have not yet confirmed any direct link.

Local residents have expressed growing anxiety about the surge in violence related to property conflicts, calling for increased police presence and more decisive action against criminal elements exploiting land disputes for violent ends. Community leaders are urging peaceful resolution mechanisms while law enforcement works to restore order and security in the affected areas.
