Nashik: The Sinnar police, in coordination with the anti-human trafficking cell of the Nashik Rural police, conducted a raid at a hotel in Sinnar on Saturday, resulting in the arrest of four individuals—a hotel staff member and three customers—for their involvement in a flesh trade operation. Additionally, three other individuals were booked for coercing women into prostitution.
Four women who had been forced into prostitution for financial gain were rescued during the operation. Among the rescued women, three were from Nashik city and one was from Igatpuri.
The arrested individuals were charged under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act (ITPA) for offenses including allowing premises to be used as a brothel, living off the earnings of prostitution, inducing a person into prostitution, detaining a person in premises where prostitution occurs, and engaging in prostitution in or near public places.
The suspects were produced before a court on Sunday, which remanded them to four days of police custody until June 17.
A constable from the anti-human trafficking unit, who filed the complaint, stated that a senior officer received a tip-off about flesh trade activities at a hotel in Sinnar. The Sinnar police were then alerted, and a raid was planned with the assistance of witnesses and decoy customers. After the decoy customers entered the hotel and signaled the police team, officers from the Sinnar police station and the anti-human trafficking unit raided the premises. They rescued the four women and arrested the four individuals who had forced them into the flesh trade for financial gain.
