Nashik Police Uncover Illegal LPG Transfer Operation in Bhadrakali
In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, the Nashik Crime Branch Unit-1, in collaboration with the Bhadrakali police, has successfully arrested four men involved in the unauthorized transfer of LPG from domestic cylinders to commercial ones. The operation took place at a tin shed located in Kutti Bazaar, Bhadrakali, highlighting the authorities' vigilance against black marketing amid gas shortages.
Massive Seizure Worth Rs 3.1 Lakh During Raid
The police conducted a thorough raid, resulting in the seizure of articles valued at approximately Rs 3.1 lakh. The confiscated items included:
- 33 domestic LPG cylinders
- 13 commercial gas cylinders
- Two gas refilling machines
- Two electric weighing scales
- A three-wheeler vehicle
This seizure underscores the scale of the illegal operation and the potential risks associated with such hazardous practices.
Police Commissioner's Directives Lead to Action
In response to the ongoing shortage of both domestic and commercial gas, Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik had issued strict guidelines to all police station in-charge officials and the crime branch. The directive aimed to intensify efforts to curb the illegal black marketing of gas cylinders, ensuring public safety and compliance with regulations.
Tip-Off and Raid Execution
Acting on a crucial tip-off received by constables Nazimkhan Pathan and Sandip Bhand, a specialized team led by Senior Inspector Anchal Mudgal of Crime Branch Unit-1 swiftly organized and executed the raid. During the operation, police apprehended four men who were using unauthorized machines to transfer LPG in a dangerous manner, posing significant safety hazards.
Identities of the Arrested Individuals
The arrested men have been identified as:
- Sandip Chavan (28), resident of Bhimwadi in Ganjmal
- Asif Ahmed Sheikh (36), resident of Happy Home Colony
- Anil Ghode (29), resident of Amrapali Road in Upnagar
- Santosh Patekar (28), also a resident of Amrapali Road, Upnagar
A formal case has been registered by the Bhadrakali police station based on a complaint filed by Constable Nazimkhan Pathan. The Bhadrakali police are currently conducting further investigations to uncover any additional details or connections related to this illegal activity.

The successful raid was carried out under the expert guidance of Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Kirankumar Chavan, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sandeep Mitke.
