The accused, identified as Vikram Kamble, was involved in a severe accident on Friday in Artist village, sector-8, where he hit and dragged a woman pedestrian for approximately 50 metres, causing her significant injuries, before ramming into six vehicles parked on the roadside.

Medical Confirmation of Alcohol Influence

Arun Pawar, the senior inspector of CBD-Belapur police station, confirmed that the medical test report from NMMC hospital in Nerul established that Kamble was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. This finding led to the immediate application of section 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act, which specifically penalizes drunk driving. The charges will be formally included in the chargesheet to be submitted to the court, ensuring legal proceedings are initiated against the accused.

Victim's Condition and Recovery

The victim, Mohini Shinde, a 35-year-old househelp, sustained severe head injuries, facial bruises, and injuries near her knees due to the accident. She is currently recuperating at MGM hospital in CBD-Belapur, where doctors have reported that she is out of danger and showing signs of improvement. The incident has highlighted the grave risks associated with drunk driving, prompting authorities to take strict action to prevent such occurrences in the future.
