Major Crackdown in Khanna: 476 Arrests in 24 Hours
Punjab Police's Operation Prahaar 3.0 led to the arrest of 476 persons in Khanna within 24 hours, as of 4 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2026. The operation targeted crime and narcotics, resulting in significant recoveries and the dismantling of criminal networks.
Breakdown of Arrests and Seizures
According to official updates, out of the 476 arrests, 326 were substantive, 111 preventive, and 10 were proclaimed offenders (POs). Additionally, four gangster associates were nabbed. The police recovered 247.6 grams of heroin, 3 kg of ganja, 1.4 kg of opium, 100 kg of poppy husk, and 380 banned tablets or capsules. Cash amounting to Rs 13,250 linked to drug trade was also seized.
Recovery of Stolen Property
In the stolen property category, authorities recovered five stolen two-wheelers, one stolen four-wheeler, eight stolen trucks, four stolen mobile phones, and one silver chain. Excise teams seized 153 litres of liquor along with 160 empty bottles of high-end brands, which were used for filling local spurious liquor. Gambling money amounting to Rs 6,320 was also confiscated.
Arms and Ammunition Seized
The police recovered two .32 bore pistols, four cartridges, and three datars or knives. The drive also resulted in the busting of two illegal de-addiction centres operating in the area. A chemist shop running illegally without a valid licence and with a previous criminal history was raided.
Dismantling of Criminal Gangs
The police dismantled a gang involved in procuring empty bottles of premium liquor brands and filling them with low-grade local liquor. A godown used in the racket was unearthed during the operation. Another gang engaged in tampering with engine and chassis numbers of stolen vehicles to sell them as legitimate second-hand vehicles was also busted.
Social Media Monitoring and Cyber Crime
Khanna SSP Dr Darpan Ahluwalia stated that many social media URLs promoting objectionable content and glorification of arms and violence have been forwarded to the State Cyber Crime Cell for immediate blocking and removal. The ongoing Operation Prahaar 3.0 continues to focus on maintaining law and order, curbing the drug menace, and targeting organised criminal activities in the region.
