Orissa High Court Bar Association Elects New Leadership in Cuttack
In a significant development for the legal community in Odisha, Advocate Lalatendu Samantaray was elected as the president of the Orissa high court bar association on Saturday. This election marks a new chapter for the association, which plays a crucial role in representing lawyers and advocating for judicial reforms in the state.
Office Bearers Announced for High Court Bar Association
The elections saw the selection of several key office bearers to support the association's functions. Hrudananda Mohapatra was elected as the secretary, taking on responsibilities for administrative and operational duties. Pradip Mohapatra and Pradipta Kumar Mohanty were elected as vice-president and joint secretary respectively, positions that will involve assisting in leadership and coordination efforts.
Additionally, Sanjukta Bala Das was elected as treasurer, tasked with managing the association's financial affairs. Basudev Baril was chosen as library secretary, overseeing the maintenance and development of legal resources, while Sulochana Patra was elected as assistant secretary, providing support in various organizational tasks.
Separate Elections for Cuttack Criminal Courts' Bar Association
In parallel elections held for the office bearers of the Cuttack criminal courts' bar association, a distinct set of leaders was elected. Badal Chandra Ray and Gadadhar Sahoo were elected as president and secretary respectively, bringing their expertise to the forefront of criminal law representation in the region.
Tapas Kumar Nayak and Laxmipriya Sahoo were elected uncontested as vice-president and joint secretary, indicating broad consensus within the association for their roles. Samarendu Mohanty was elected as the treasurer, responsible for handling the financial matters of this specialized bar group.
These elections underscore the active participation and democratic processes within the legal fraternity in Cuttack, highlighting the importance of organized representation for lawyers in both high court and criminal court settings.
