PAC Jawan Among Two Armed Men Shoot Patient Dead in Aligarh Hospital
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, two armed men, including a Pradeshik Armed Constabulary (PAC) jawan, barged into a private hospital in Aligarh and fired a bullet at a 38-year-old patient point-blank. The horrific attack occurred around 10 pm on Monday, with other patients and attendants watching in sheer horror as the assailants fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Victim Succumbs to Injuries After Being Shifted to Higher Medical Centre
The critically injured patient, identified as Vedpal Singh, was swiftly shifted to a higher medical centre for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, he tragically died around noon on Tuesday. Vedpal Singh, a resident of Ahraula village in Khair, had been admitted to the hospital after suffering a fracture in one of his arms and had undergone a surgical procedure earlier on Monday.
Police Investigation Links Murder to Love Affair and Family Dispute
Initial police investigation has indicated that the incident is intricately linked to a love affair that spanned several years. According to authorities, Vedpal Singh had been in a relationship with a girl for the past five years. The situation escalated when the girl's family fixed her marriage to another man, scheduled for February 3, 2026.
SSP Neeraj Kumar Jadaun provided detailed insights into the case, stating, "Preliminary investigation revealed that Vedpal was in a relationship with a Mathura woman for several years. However, her family fixed her marriage to another man, and the wedding was scheduled for Feb 3, 2026. The woman's family members alleged that Vedpal tried to break the alliance, following which her relatives assaulted him. Mathura police took legal action against him and sent him to jail for 14 days under judicial custody. That marriage was eventually called off. However, the woman later married another man. Her family blamed Vedpal for the fiasco and continued to threaten him."
Arrests Made and Manhunt Launched for Assailants
In a significant development, police on Tuesday arrested the girl's father, Devendera Chaudhary, who is a UP Police constable posted in Baghpat. The arrest was made from Mathura. Authorities have identified the primary assailants as the woman's cousin, Bhupendra Chaudhary, aged 28 and a PAC jawan, along with an associate.
A police officer involved in the investigation explained, "The woman's cousin, Bhupendra Chaudhary, 28, a PAC jawan, and an associate arrived at the hospital and allegedly fired at Vedpal. Efforts are currently underway to trace and apprehend these two individuals." A formal case has been registered under BNS Section 103 (murder) in connection with this brutal crime.
Family Background and Victim's Profile Add Complexity to Case
The victim's cousin, Kuldeep Tomar, shared poignant details about Vedpal Singh's life, revealing, "After completing legal studies, Vedpal worked under a lawyer. He was in a relationship with the girl for the past five years. Her father, brother and cousin are serving in the UP Police." This information underscores the complex dynamics at play, involving multiple family members serving in law enforcement.
The incident has raised serious questions about security in healthcare facilities and the misuse of authority, given the involvement of a PAC jawan. Local authorities are intensifying their investigation to ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice, while the community grapples with the brutality of a crime that unfolded in a place meant for healing and care.
