Panchkula Police Implements Multi-Layered Security for 77th Republic Day Celebrations
In preparation for the 77th Republic Day celebrations, the district police in Panchkula have been placed on high alert, with security significantly tightened across the region. The comprehensive security arrangements include the deployment of specialized units such as dog squads and SWAT teams, along with intensified surveillance at key locations to ensure a safe and secure environment for the festivities.
Detailed Security Review by DCP Srishti Gupta
As part of the security review, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Panchkula, Srishti Gupta, visited the Parade Ground in Sector 5, which will host the main Republic Day function on January 26. During her visit, DCP Gupta conducted a detailed inspection of the security arrangements, placing the entire area under a comprehensive security cover. She issued strict instructions to all officers, emphasizing that no lapse in security would be tolerated.
Continuous Search Operations and Combing Efforts
The district police are conducting continuous search operations with the assistance of dog squads at sensitive and high-footfall areas, including bus stands, busy markets, and the railway station. All station house officers and police post in-charges have been directed to carry out combing operations within their respective jurisdictions to identify and mitigate potential threats.
Enhanced Surveillance at Accommodation Facilities
Security checks have been intensified at hotels, inns, and dharamshalas across Panchkula. Authorities are thoroughly verifying identity documents and guest records to monitor any suspicious activities or individuals, ensuring that all temporary accommodations are secure.
Strategic Checkpoints and Patrol Deployment
A total of 34 special checkpoints have been established along district borders and internal routes. Police personnel at these checkpoints are maintaining a close watch on suspicious vehicles and activities to prevent any security breaches. More than 300 police personnel have been assigned to security duties, supported by four SWAT commando teams that remain on round-the-clock alert.
Rapid Response Units and Public Advisory
To ensure swift response to any emergencies, 11 PCR vehicles, 19 emergency response vehicles (ERVs), and 25 riders are conducting continuous patrols throughout the district. The police administration has advised the public to avoid touching any unattended objects, such as bags, tiffins, or other suspicious items, and to immediately inform the nearest police station or dial 112 if they encounter anything concerning.
