Two days after the brutal killing of a 40-year-old man in Khotpura (Dera Manchuri) village, Panipat police arrested the victim's nephew in connection with the murder. The accused, Abhishek alias Bandar, was apprehended near Chandoli village late Thursday night.
Arrest and Confession
Sub-Inspector Dalbir Singh, SHO of Sector 13/17 police station, confirmed the arrest and stated that during preliminary investigation, Abhishek confessed to murdering his uncle Sushil Kumar over a personal feud. The police have taken the accused into custody, and he was produced before a court on Friday, which remanded him to two-day police custody.
Details of the Incident
According to the complaint filed by Kavita, wife of the deceased, Sushil Kumar was returning home late Tuesday evening. As he reached near the house of Bhani Ram, the accused stopped him and began assaulting him. Sushil fell to the ground, after which Abhishek picked up a heavy stone mortar and struck his uncle's head and face multiple times.
The attack was so severe that Sushil's face was badly damaged, and he died on the spot, Kavita stated in her complaint. She added that Abhishek had been nursing enmity with his uncle for some time. Prior to the murder, the accused had quarreled with Sushil, prompting the family to call Dial 112 for assistance. Despite the complaint, Abhishek continued to hold a grudge and was seeking revenge.
CCTV Evidence
The entire incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed at a house in the street, sources said. The footage shows the accused attacking Sushil with the stone mortar. After the murder, Abhishek also damaged the victim's scooter.
Legal Proceedings
The accused was produced before the court on Friday and sent to two-day police remand, the SHO confirmed. Police are continuing their investigation, and further details are awaited.
