Patna School Bus Driver Arrested for Alleged Rape of 12-Year-Old Girl
In a shocking incident from Siwan district, Bihar, a bus driver employed by a private school was arrested on Sunday on charges of raping a 12-year-old girl. The alleged crime occurred late on Friday night as the girl was returning from a Ram Navami fair, sending shockwaves through the local community.

The accused, identified as Sawali Kumar Yadav, aged 36, is reported to have known the victim, a Class VI student, as he was the bus driver at her school. According to police reports, on Friday evening, the girl attended a village fair celebrating Ram Navami. The accused allegedly followed her and lured her under the pretext of buying items from a shop set up by his brother-in-law at the fair.
Instead, he took her to a deserted area, dragged her into a wheat field, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the scene. The girl was left severely injured and was later found crying near a school during a search by her family members.
Police Response and Investigation
Siwan Superintendent of Police Puran Kumar Jha stated that the immediate priority was to ensure the victim received urgent medical care. She was taken to a government hospital with a woman police officer for treatment. A forensic science team visited the crime spot, collected blood samples and other evidence, and questioned local residents to gather crucial information.
Police emphasized that the scientific evidence collected will play a vital role in strengthening the case against the accused. As of now, the girl's statement has not been recorded due to her fragile condition, but authorities are closely monitoring her recovery.
