A young man's life was tragically cut short in Patna district on Monday after a violent assault linked to a romantic relationship. Sonu Manjhi, aged 22, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a Patna hospital, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Violent Night in Ijarta Musahari Village

The incident occurred in Ijarta Musahari village under the jurisdiction of Paliganj police station. According to police officials, the tragedy unfolded late on Sunday night when Manjhi visited his longtime girlfriend at her home in the same village.

Paliganj subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Rajiv Chandra Singh confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate the assault was directly connected to the couple's relationship. "The girl had reportedly invited him to her home. However, her family members discovered him and allegedly assaulted him severely," Singh stated.

Police Response and Arrests

Local residents who witnessed the aftermath quickly rushed the critically injured Manjhi to a hospital in Patna for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, the 22-year-old could not be saved and died during treatment on Monday.

Police have taken swift action in the case. Bablu Paswan, the girl's father, has been arrested and taken into custody. The police team also took the young woman into custody for questioning to gather more information about the circumstances leading to the violent confrontation.

"Based on the statement of the victim's family, we have taken necessary actions and arrested the accused. The man's family has lodged a formal complaint against them," a police officer involved in the investigation confirmed.

Ongoing Investigation and Evidence Collection

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the tragic incident. A Forensic Science Laboratory team has been deployed at the crime scene to collect crucial evidence that could help establish the complete sequence of events.

Police are currently recording statements from witnesses who might have information about the assault. The body of the deceased has been sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and the nature of injuries sustained during the beating.

Senior police officers, including SDPO Rajiv Chandra Singh, visited the crime scene personally to oversee the investigation. "Further investigation is underway," the officer added, emphasizing that the police are treating the case with utmost seriousness.
