Police Statement
According to ASP Krishna Murari Prasad, the deceased had a criminal history and was also a drug addict. “He was jailed three times previously for theft cases registered in Patna and Danapur police station areas. Preliminary investigation suggests that the group accompanying him may have assaulted him. He reportedly fell after hitting a wall. No one informed the police or provided medical assistance to the victim, due to which he died at the place,” Prasad said.
The ASP added: “There are rumours that he went to the spot for robbery and was beaten up. We are also investigating this. A special team has been formed to investigate the case using technical evidence and human intelligence. The exact cause of death will be known after the postmortem report comes. After this, legal action will be taken.”
Family Seeks Justice
The deceased’s wife, Archana Devi, demanded justice. “Even if he had committed a mistake, the police would have punished him. What was the need to kill him and throw him away?” she asked. She filed an FIR at the Patliputra police station in this regard. Shankar is survived by his wife and two children.
Police have formed a special team to investigate the case using technical evidence and human intelligence. The postmortem report is awaited to determine the exact cause of death.
