Patna Teenager's Tragic Death Under Investigation After Suspicious Fall from Building

A 16-year-old Class XI student lost her life under highly suspicious circumstances on Thursday morning in Patna's Phulwarisharif area. The incident occurred when she fell from the roof of a five-storey building located near her coaching centre, sparking a major police investigation and allegations of foul play from her family.

Details of the Incident and Family's Allegations

According to police reports, the victim had recently joined coaching classes on February 1 and was on her way to attend them early in the morning when the tragedy unfolded. Her body was discovered on the road adjacent to the coaching centre shortly after the fall. Family members have vehemently alleged murder, pointing to several disturbing factors. They cite visible injury marks on her body, including broken limbs, and note the absence of blood at the spot despite the significant height of the fall, suggesting she may have been harmed before being pushed.

CCTV Footage Reveals Chilling Sequence of Events

CCTV footage obtained from the coaching centre has provided crucial insights into the moments leading up to the incident. The video shows the girl hurriedly climbing the stairs of the building, with two youths following closely behind her. Moments later, she is seen plunging from the roof to the ground. The footage further captures the two boys descending the stairs, pausing briefly to look at her body, and then fleeing the scene. This evidence has intensified suspicions and is central to the ongoing probe.

Police Response and Investigation Progress

In response to the incident, Patna police have taken swift action. Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma confirmed that authorities have seized the CCTV footage and detained three individuals for questioning. Those detained include two carpenters who were working on the upper floor of the building and the building guard, all visible in the footage. Police are also interrogating nearby residents, the girl's friends, and the director of the coaching centre to gather more information.

The body has been sent to AIIMS-Patna for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and ascertain whether the injuries occurred before or after the fall. City SP (West) Bhanu Pratap Singh announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under Phulwarisharif SDPO-I, which includes officers from other police stations to ensure a thorough investigation.

Authorities Urge Caution Amid Ongoing Probe

Police officials have emphasized the need for patience as the investigation proceeds. Phulwarisharif SDPO-I Sushil Kumar provided additional details, noting that the girl entered the campus around 7:45 AM and fell approximately at 8:12 AM. He mentioned that the forensic team, including the FSL and dog squad, has collected evidence from the spot. Preliminary investigations suggest the absence of bloodstains might be due to her backpack cushioning the impact, but this remains speculative.

Authorities have urged the public and media to avoid premature conclusions, stressing that scientific evidence from the post-mortem and forensic reports will be essential in providing clarity. However, the family continues to demand a murder investigation, highlighting the injury marks and the suspicious circumstances surrounding the chase captured on CCTV.

The case has drawn significant attention in Patna, with calls for justice and a transparent inquiry into the tragic death of the young student.
