Patna Woman Found Murdered in Home; Police Launch Probe

In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old woman was brutally murdered at her residence in the Dadar Mandi area under the Alamganj police station in Patna on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as Sulekha Devi, who worked as a public distribution system (PDS) dealer, sustained multiple stab wounds, including severe injuries to her neck, throat, and both hands.

Details of the Attack

Unidentified assailants entered her house around 11:45 am, attacked her, and fled the scene. At the time of the incident, Sulekha's son was sleeping in an upstairs room, her mother-in-law had gone to the market, and her husband, Mantu Kumar, was at his office. The criminals escaped without being noticed by anyone in the vicinity.

When the son came downstairs, he discovered his mother lying in a pool of blood. Family members immediately rushed her to NMCH-Patna in an auto-rickshaw, where doctors declared her brought dead upon arrival. Medical professionals confirmed that she had been attacked with a sharp weapon, leading to fatal injuries.

Family's Account and Police Response

Her husband, Mantu Kumar, who works as a clerk at a court, recounted the tragic event. "I was in court when my son called my colleague, Rajendra Prasad, saying my mother had collapsed. I rushed home and found my wife covered in blood, with our son beside her," he said, expressing his grief and shock.

Officers from the Alamganj police station quickly reached the spot, cordoned off the area, and initiated an investigation. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was deployed to collect evidence from the crime scene to aid in the probe.

Investigation Underway

Patna City ASP Raj Kishori Singh provided an update on the case. "The case appears to be a clear murder. Family members are being questioned, and CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being analysed. The FSL team has collected evidence to support the probe," she stated. She added that the motive remains unclear, and the number of assailants has not been established yet.

Police suspect the crime may be linked to personal or professional disputes, given the victim's role as a PDS dealer, which often involves handling ration supplies and could lead to conflicts. However, no definite leads have emerged so far, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover more details.

The community is in shock over this violent act, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to help solve the case swiftly.
