A Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act court in Panchmahal has convicted a man for the rape of a 9-year-old girl in Godhra taluka last year, sentencing him to imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life. The court found that the accused forcibly abducted the girl from her mother and committed the heinous crime.
Details of the Incident
The crime occurred around 2 a.m. on September 17, 2025, when the accused, Boda alias Ajay Nayak, aged 29, arrived at the victim's residence. He dragged the child away, and when the girl's mother attempted to intervene, Nayak assaulted her with a stick. He then took the girl to a secluded location and raped her. Following the assault, he threatened the child, warning her not to disclose the incident to anyone.
Legal Proceedings
The victim's father reported the crime to the police after learning of the incident, leading to the registration of an offense. The court held Nayak guilty under the Pocso Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. In addition to the life sentence, the court imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh and ordered compensation of Rs 5 lakh to be paid to the victim.
