Bhubaneswar Police Exonerate Woman in Chandrasekharpur Murder Case, Prime Suspect Surrenders
In a significant development in the Chandrasekharpur murder case, Bhubaneswar police have officially cleared the woman at whose residence car driver Satyabrata Pradhan was brutally murdered on Monday. The decision comes just one day after the prime suspect, Dinesh Nayak, surrendered before authorities, bringing crucial clarity to the investigation.
No Evidence Found Against the Woman
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Zone-VI) Sonali Singh Parmar stated that no evidence has emerged linking the woman directly or indirectly to the crime. "Prima facie, Nayak stands as the lone accused in this case," Parmar emphasized, confirming the police's conclusion after thorough examination.
Background of the Love Triangle
Police revealed that Dinesh Nayak, an occasional driver, was in a live-in relationship with the woman in Niladri Vihar for some time, despite being married. Their relationship deteriorated when she discovered Nayak's marital status and began distancing herself. Nayak subsequently moved to a nearby residence, while the woman developed a connection with Satyabrata Pradhan through social media.
The Fatal Night and Sequence of Events
In the intervening night between Sunday and Monday, Nayak allegedly spotted Pradhan's car parked outside the woman's residence. Enraged, he stormed into the house and confronted them. According to ACP Parmar, a heated argument quickly escalated into violence when Nayak slashed Pradhan's throat with a knife.
Police reports indicate that the woman attempted to protect Pradhan during the attack and later made efforts to save his life by calling an ambulance and alerting neighbors. While she was initially detained for questioning due to suspected involvement, Nayak fled the scene before surrendering the following day, which helped police reconstruct the tragic sequence of events.
Investigation Progress and Key Evidence
On Wednesday, police took Nayak to the woman's residence to recreate the crime scene. During this process, authorities seized the knife used in the attack and Nayak's car as crucial evidence. Police have confirmed that the woman will serve as a key witness in the case to ensure Nayak's conviction.
Family Background and Domestic Strife
Nayak's wife, Mamali, who resides in Jagatsinghpur with their minor daughter and in-laws, confirmed awareness of her husband's extramarital affair. "Our relationship had soured several years ago after he became involved with this woman," Mamali disclosed. "He hardly visits us anymore. He even assaulted me once when I questioned him about the woman." The couple has been married for approximately ten years.
The investigation continues as police work to build a strong case against Dinesh Nayak, while the woman has been fully cleared of any suspicion in this tragic incident that has shocked the Bhubaneswar community.
