Police Officer Beaten Up in Pilibhit Village During Official Duty
A police sub-inspector faced a violent attack in Pilibhit district on Monday. The incident occurred in Muria Bhagwantpur village, where officer Akhilesh Singh Chauhan was assaulted while performing his official duties.
Confrontation Over Document Collection
Sub-inspector Akhilesh Singh Chauhan, aged 50 and posted at Deoria police station, visited the village to collect documents from the village head. These documents were required for an ongoing investigation. However, the village head's husband, identified as Vimal Mishra, repeatedly delayed providing the necessary papers.
This persistent refusal eventually led to a heated argument between the police officer and Mishra. The situation quickly escalated beyond verbal confrontation.
Violent Assault by Multiple Attackers
During the argument, Vimal Mishra did not act alone. He was accompanied by six other individuals who joined him in attacking the police officer. Together, they physically assaulted Sub-inspector Chauhan, beating him up right there in the village.
The attack left the officer with visible injuries that required immediate medical attention. Local police personnel responded to the scene after learning about the assault on their colleague.
Serious Injuries and Medical Treatment
The injured officer was first taken to a local primary health centre for initial examination. Dr. Tapas Tripathi, who examined Chauhan, confirmed the officer sustained internal injuries to his head and ear area.
Given the seriousness of his condition, medical professionals referred Chauhan to the Autonomous State Medical College hospital at the district headquarters for more comprehensive treatment and further evaluation of his injuries.
Police Response and Legal Action
Bisalpur circle officer Pragati Singh Chauhan promptly reached the village with additional police personnel following the incident. She reviewed the situation on the ground and directed the station house officer to take appropriate action against those involved in the assault.
SHO Gautam Singh confirmed that a formal case has been registered against the main accused, Vimal Mishra, and his associates. The charges include serious sections under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita: section 109 for attempt to murder, section 352 for intentional insult, and section 351(3) for criminal intimidation.
The police investigation is now underway to gather additional evidence and ensure all those involved in attacking the officer face appropriate legal consequences for their actions.
