Road Blockade and Intervention

Frustrated by the delay, villagers staged a road blockade around noon on Monday, disrupting traffic. Upon receiving the alert, TI Indraj Singh arrived at the scene with a police team and attempted to persuade the protesters to disperse. During the intervention, some members of the crowd allegedly attacked him with sharp-edged weapons.

The officer collapsed after sustaining serious head injuries. His colleagues rescued him from the crowd and rushed him to the district hospital in Sidhi, where he remains under treatment. Senior officials, including Churhat SDM Vikas Kumar Anand and police teams from five stations, later reached the village and brought the situation under control.

Police Response

“The officer’s condition is stable. He is under observation at the hospital. We have identified seven accused and registered a case. A few have been detained, and a search is on for the rest,” Sidhi SP Santosh Kori told TOI.

Police said raids are underway to arrest the remaining accused, and further investigation is in progress.
