Violent Mob Clash Rocks Prayagraj's Hathigahan Area, Leaves Four Injured
Panic and chaos gripped the Hathigahan neighborhood and its adjoining regions under the jurisdiction of the Nawabganj police station in Prayagraj on Sunday night. The disturbance erupted when supporters from two opposing factions engaged in a violent confrontation, escalating into intense brick-batting and stone-pelting.
Vehicles Torched and Injuries Reported in Escalating Violence
During the tumultuous incident, the unruly mob set fire to a tractor and a motorcycle, adding to the destruction and fear in the area. Four individuals sustained injuries as a result of the clashes, necessitating immediate medical attention. In response to the escalating violence, a substantial police force was swiftly deployed to the scene to restore law and order and prevent further unrest.
Root Cause Traced to Old Dispute and Heated Arguments
The trouble reportedly began when a man allegedly slapped a youth following a long-standing personal dispute. This act sparked heated arguments between supporters of both groups, which quickly spiraled out of control. The situation deteriorated into a pitched battle, with both parties aggressively pelting each other with stones, creating a dangerous environment for residents.
Police Intervention and Ongoing Investigations
Upon receiving alerts about the violence, a team from the Nawabganj police station rushed to the spot. Officers actively chased the mob to disperse them and secure the area. A senior police official stated that the incident was a direct fallout of an old rivalry between the groups. Search operations are currently underway to identify and apprehend the agitators involved in the clash, as authorities work to ensure such incidents do not recur and maintain peace in the community.
