- Six packets of smack (heroin) weighing approximately 727 grams, with an estimated street value of Rs 1.45 crore
- Four mobile phones
- Cash amounting to Rs 4,940
- A country-made pistol of 0.315 bore
- One live cartridge
This seizure represents a major blow to the local drug trade, preventing a significant quantity of narcotics from reaching the streets and potentially harming the community.
Auto-Theft Gang Busted in Handia
In a parallel operation, the Handia police arrested two auto-lifters involved in a systematic bike theft racket. The individuals taken into custody are Shailendra Patel (27), a resident of Utrav, and Teerath Saroj (21), from Mansoorabad.
From their possession, police recovered five stolen motorcycles along with master keys used to facilitate the thefts. Additionally, authorities have taken three juvenile members of the gang into custody, indicating the involvement of younger individuals in the criminal enterprise.
Investigations revealed that the gang operated with a methodical approach:
- They would conduct reconnaissance during daytime hours in market areas to identify potential targets
- The actual thefts would be executed based on this preliminary surveillance
- Stolen bikes would be hidden at each other's houses to avoid detection
