Tragic Fire at Magh Mela Claims Young Life in Prayagraj
A devastating fire at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj has resulted in the death of a young man. The incident occurred late on Thursday night, casting a shadow over the religious gathering.
Victim Identified as Local Resident
Police have identified the deceased as 22-year-old Manas Mishra. He was a resident of the Sarai Inayat area in Prayagraj. According to Senior Police Officer Neeraj Pandey, Mishra was sleeping in a tent when the fire erupted.
The tent was part of a camp allocated to his uncle's religious group, known as a Dharmarth shivir. His relatives were participating in the kalpwas ritual at a nearby camp within the Prayagwal police station area.
Swift Response Fails to Save Life
The fire broke out in a tent located near Annapurna Marg inside Sector 5 of the mela campus. Neighbors and fire department teams reacted quickly upon noticing the flames.
They rushed to the scene and worked diligently to extinguish the fire. Despite their efforts, Mishra sustained serious burn injuries.
Rescuers immediately transported him to the district hospital for urgent medical treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Friday.
Joint Investigation Launched
Authorities are now focusing on determining the cause of the fire. Mela police and the fire department have initiated a joint investigation.
Officer Neeraj Pandey confirmed that both agencies are working together to uncover the circumstances that led to this tragic event. The investigation aims to provide clarity and prevent similar incidents in the future.
