The case came to the forefront when Sachin Chandwade, a 45-year-old resident of Hadapsar who serves as the mall manager, filed an official complaint with the Shivajinagar police on Tuesday. According to the complaint, the accused targeted high-end garments from various brand outlets within the mall.
Senior Inspector Girish Dighavkar of the Shivajinagar police stated, "At present, we are unsure whether the suspect or suspects are customers or employees of the mall. The accused picked up expensive garments from outlets of different brands and took them into the trial rooms. They removed both the price tags and electronic security tags before leaving the mall without making any payment."

The theft was discovered in the first week of April, prompting mall authorities to approach the police for assistance. Inspector Dighavkar elaborated on the investigation, noting, "We suspect the accused may have used bags to carry the garments out of the mall. We will examine the mall's CCTV footage to identify and trace the suspects."
