In a serious incident of obstruction of justice, the Vishrantwadi police in Pune have officially registered a criminal case against a 30-year-old real estate agent hailing from Yerawada. The individual stands accused of assaulting a police constable and employing criminal force to deter him from executing his official duties.

Details of the Monday Evening Altercation

The confrontation unfolded at approximately 7:45 PM on Monday in the Phulenagar locality, situated off the Pune-Alandi Road. According to police reports, Constable Ankush Kachi from the Vishrantwadi police station responded to an emergency call placed by his neighbor, which prompted his arrival at the scene.

Upon reaching Phulenagar, Constable Kachi encountered the real estate agent, who was allegedly creating a significant disturbance in the area. The agent was reportedly shouting abuses and causing a ruckus, directing his anger towards his mother and other relatives due to unresolved family issues.

Assault on the Officer and Subsequent Threats

In an attempt to intervene and restore order, Constable Kachi approached the agitated individual. However, the situation escalated rapidly when the real estate agent physically pushed the constable and tore his uniform, an act that constitutes a direct assault on a public servant.

Following the initial assault, the agent compounded his offenses by issuing explicit threats of dire consequences against Constable Kachi, further intimidating the officer and obstructing the lawful performance of his duties.

Legal Proceedings and Police Action

In response to the incident, Constable Ankush Kachi formally lodged a complaint with the Vishrantwadi police station, detailing the assault and threats. The police have since taken the real estate agent into custody and transported him to the police station for further questioning.

A formal notice has been served to the accused, mandating his full cooperation with the ongoing investigations into the matter. The case underscores the legal repercussions for individuals who impede law enforcement officers, emphasizing the protection afforded to public servants under Indian law.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining public order and the risks faced by police personnel in the line of duty, particularly in urban areas like Pune where family disputes can sometimes escalate into violent confrontations.
