Police on Thursday morning took Siya Goyal to a location in Pune where she and Chetan Chaudhary had allegedly rehearsed how to push her fiancé and realtor Ketan Agarwal off a cliff at Lohagad Fort, officials said.
Rehearsal Site Identified in Lullanagar
According to a Pune Rural Police official, the investigation revealed that Goyal (20) and Chaudhary (22) rehearsed the murder at an open space near a club in Lullanagar. During the visit, Goyal identified the exact spot where the rehearsal took place. The couple allegedly planned how to push 25-year-old Agarwal from the cliff.
Clothes Recovered During House Panchnama
During a search at Goyal's residence in the Market Yard area of Pune, police recovered the clothes she allegedly wore on June 18, the day of the incident at Lohagad Fort. The recovery was made during the house panchnama process.
Goyal and Chaudhary were arrested after Agarwal was pushed to his death from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18. Agarwal and Goyal were set to marry in November this year. Both accused have been remanded in police custody until July 3.
Motive: Agarwal Seen as Obstacle in Relationship
According to police, Goyal and Chaudhary allegedly eliminated Agarwal because he was becoming an obstacle in their relationship. Ketan Agarwal's father, Vishal Agarwal, mentioned in his complaint that his son had repeatedly voiced concerns about Goyal's closeness to Chaudhary, noting that she often mentioned his name in conversations.
Police also stated that Goyal had earlier sabotaged their planned pre-wedding trip to Bali, Indonesia.
Crime Scene Reconstructions Conducted
The Pune Rural police on Wednesday recreated the crime scene with co-accused Chaudhary, who allegedly played a role in the conspiracy to murder Agarwal. A similar reconstruction was conducted with Goyal on Sunday, during which a dummy was pushed off the cliff in her presence.
