Pune: The Khadak police have arrested a 40-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her 70-year-old father to death at their residence in Kasewadi. The incident occurred around 11 pm on Sunday, and the deceased's wife (60) lodged a complaint at the Khadak police station on Monday.
Details of the Incident
Senior inspector Shashikant Chavan of the Khadak police told TOI, “The accused woman’s mother informed us that her husband used to get drunk almost every day and would abuse and harass his daughter. The daughter is unmarried and unemployed.”
“Due to constant harassment, the arrested woman was upset and depressed. Enraged by his behavior, she picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest, killing him on the spot,” Chavan added.
Background of the Accused
The accused woman, who lived with her parents, had been subjected to prolonged mental and emotional abuse by her father. The deceased, a daily wage worker, was reportedly addicted to alcohol and frequently engaged in violent behavior towards his daughter. The woman, who had no source of income, was completely dependent on her parents for survival.
Legal Proceedings
The police have registered a case of murder under the Indian Penal Code and have taken the accused into custody. She is currently being held at the Khadak police station and will be produced before a local court on Tuesday. Investigations are ongoing to gather further evidence and statements from neighbors and family members.
