Punjab Police Attacked with Bricks and Blades in Drug Raid

A police team investigating drug-peddling allegations was ambushed with bricks and blades in Razapur village, highlighting the violent resistance facing enforcement officers in Punjab's narcotics crackdown.

Details of the Incident

The officers were acting on a secret input received from the Safe Punjab Portal, a dedicated platform for reporting smugglers, when they confronted a suspect, Manjit Singh. The routine inquiry turned violent when the man allegedly summoned his family members to join a physical assault against the detachment.

Constable Sandeep Singh wrote in his complaint that the suspect's family had dragged the officers into their courtyard, where they were thrashed and pelted with construction debris. One suspect, Kulwinder Kaur, reportedly hurled a brick at Sandeep Singh before the outnumbered officers managed to retreat and call for backup.
