Punjab tourist dies in Goa hotel fall, police probe on

A tragic incident cut short the holiday of a family from Punjab in North Goa, as a 41-year-old man died after a fall from his hotel on Tuesday. The victim, identified as Harinderjit Sharma from Patiala, Punjab, had arrived in the coastal state with family and friends just a day before the unfortunate event.

Morning Call Leads to Grisly Discovery

The Calangute police station received an emergency call on Tuesday morning reporting an accident at a hotel in Candolim. Officers rushed to the scene and found Sharma on the ground, having sustained severe injuries from the fall. Preliminary reports suggest he fell from the third floor of the hotel building.

Rushed to Hospital, Declared Dead on Arrival

The injured tourist was immediately transported to the Candolim Primary Health Centre for urgent medical attention. However, doctors at the centre examined him and declared him 'brought dead'. His body was subsequently shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) in Bambolim for further formalities and a post-mortem examination.

Police Investigation Underway

Law enforcement officials have initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal plunge. Based on their initial findings, the Calangute police have stated that the fall appears to be accidental. Nevertheless, as the death was unnatural, the police have formally registered a case of unnatural death. The investigation remains active to piece together the exact sequence of events.

The sudden demise of Harinderjit Sharma has cast a pall over his family and friends, who had travelled to Goa for a vacation. The police are likely to record statements from the accompanying group and hotel staff as part of their ongoing probe.
