A 57-year-old truck driver from Punjab succumbed to injuries sustained in a hit-and-run accident near Hero Company's premises in Gurgaon over a week ago, police said.
Incident Details
The deceased, identified as Manohar Singh, was a resident of Firozpur district in Punjab. According to a complaint lodged by his wife, he had been working as a driver for a Ludhiana-based truck owner since December 2025 and had arrived at Hero Company to load goods. She stated that he had been untraceable since then.
When she reached Sadar police station on June 3 while searching for him, she learned that an unidentified man had been injured in a road accident on the night of May 24 and later died during treatment at PGI Rohtak on June 1.
Accident Sequence
As per the complaint, Manohar was climbing onto his truck around 12:30 am when an unidentified vehicle brushed past him, causing him to fall and suffer serious injuries. An officer said, "He was initially taken to Civil Hospital in Sector 10 and later referred to PGI Rohtak, where he died during treatment."
Police Investigation
Police received information from Civil Hospital on May 25 about an unidentified accident victim who was referred to PGI Rohtak. "Despite efforts, his identity could not be established at the time. Following his death on June 1, family members identified the body," the officer added.
Based on the complaint, Sadar police registered an FIR against an unidentified vehicle driver for rash driving and causing death by negligence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation has been initiated to trace the vehicle involved. "We are trying to ascertain the car details of the accused. As soon as it is clear, the accused will be nabbed and necessary action will be undertaken," the officer said.
