Surrey Police Service has charged a 24-year-old Punjabi national, Gurjot Singh, with six counts of drug trafficking and possession following a major narcotics operation that yielded drugs with an estimated street value of $891,000. The charges were filed on June 19, 2026, and Singh remains in custody pending a court appearance scheduled for June 26.
Investigation 'Project Phantom' Uncovered Extensive Drug Network
The investigation, code-named 'Project Phantom', was initiated in February 2026 by the Surrey Police Service's Prolific Offender Unit. Over four months, officers gathered intelligence leading to a raid on a residence in Surrey on May 21. During the operation, three men were arrested, but only Singh was ultimately charged.
Police seized a substantial quantity of narcotics, including nearly 16 kilograms of opium, more than 1.5 kilograms of cannabis, 559 grams of cocaine, 468 grams of fentanyl, 148 grams of methamphetamine, and 35 grams of heroin. The fentanyl alone was estimated to contain approximately 23,400 lethal doses, highlighting the severe risk to public safety.
Seizure Included Processing Equipment and Cash
In addition to the drugs, law enforcement recovered packaging materials, weighing scales, and other equipment consistent with drug processing, along with an undisclosed amount of cash. The total estimated value of the seizure was approximately $891,000, according to officials.
The two other men arrested during the raid were not charged. They were later handed over to the Canada Border Services Agency and subsequently deported from Canada.
Court Proceedings Underway
Singh was formally charged on June 19 with one count of trafficking and five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on June 26. The Surrey Police Service has not released further details about the investigation or potential links to larger drug networks.
