Quack Doctor Shot Dead in Samastipur Village, Police Investigate Motive
A 45-year-old quack doctor was gunned down by unidentified assailants in a village in Samastipur district late on Monday night. The incident occurred in Sohma village under the Bithan police station area. Police identified the deceased as Lalit Kumar Sah, a resident of Bithan village.
Details of the Attack
According to police reports, the attack happened when Sah was returning home after treating a patient. He often traveled around local villages providing medical treatment to residents. As he approached a dam near his residence, two criminals on a motorcycle blocked his path. They had been waiting for him.
One of the assailants got off the bike and exchanged a few words with Sah. Before Sah could respond or try to escape, the other criminal pulled out a pistol. He fired multiple shots at close range. Three bullets hit the quack doctor in the head. He died instantly at the spot.
Police Response and Investigation
Police sent the body to the district hospital for a post-mortem examination. Station House Officer Prakash Chandra confirmed that four empty cartridges were recovered from the scene. Officers also found the victim's bicycle there.
"The FSL team gathered evidence and further investigation is underway," said SHO Prakash Chandra.
Rosera DSP Sanjay Sinha provided additional details. "Our team reached the spot immediately upon receiving the information. The victim succumbed to gunshot injuries to the head. The family is currently unable to provide specific details. Investigations are progressing on all angles."
Police examined the area thoroughly. They are reviewing available CCTV footage to identify the culprits. The motive behind the murder remains unclear at this stage. Authorities are exploring all possible angles in their investigation.
