In a shocking incident of suspected honour killing, a 23-year-old woman was brutally bludgeoned to death with a hammer by her own father in Ghumansar Kalan village of Pilani, Jhunjhunu district. The accused, identified as Surendra Kumar Nehra, was arrested on Sunday after a visiting relative exposed the family's elaborate attempt to pass off the murder as a tragic accident.

The victim, Priyanka, was a BSc graduate who had been diligently preparing for competitive examinations in Jhunjhunu. According to police officials, the young woman wanted to pursue a love marriage against her family's strict wishes, which had created ongoing tension within the household.
Pilani station house officer (SHO) Chandrabhan Singh revealed that the dispute between father and daughter reached its violent climax on Saturday. An enraged Kumar repeatedly struck Priyanka on the temple with a hammer, killing her instantly at the scene.
Family's Failed Attempt to Conceal the Crime
Following the brutal murder, the family initiated a calculated cover-up operation. They informed relatives that Priyanka had died after accidentally falling down the stairs and were actively preparing her funeral bier in the courtyard.
The elaborate deception unraveled when the victim's maternal aunt arrived from Jaipur. Upon viewing the body, the observant aunt noticed a deep, suspicious wound on Priyanka's temple that contradicted the family's accident narrative.
"Finding the circumstances highly questionable, she immediately alerted her son, Gaurav, who wasted no time in notifying the local police authorities," explained SHO Singh.
