The operation led to the arrest of one accused and the seizure of substantial quantities of chemicals and equipment designed for large-scale synthetic drug production.
Intelligence-Led Raid Uncovers Sophisticated Drug Lab
Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the ANTF team, under the leadership of Inspector General Vikas Kumar, targeted a farm located under the jurisdiction of the Dhorimanna police station. The raid revealed a makeshift shelter where an illicit synthetic drug laboratory was allegedly being established. During the search, authorities discovered multiple drums and containers filled with precursor chemicals essential for MD production, alongside specialized equipment used in the manufacturing process.
Inspector General Vikas Kumar emphasized the scale of the operation, stating that the seized chemicals had the potential to produce nearly 15 kilograms of MD. This quantity translates to approximately 15,000 individual doses of the synthetic drug. At an estimated market rate of Rs 3,000 per gram, the confiscated materials could have generated substantial illicit revenue and exposed around 7,500 individuals to the harmful effects of the narcotic substance.
Arrest and Investigation Details
The accused, identified as Nimbaram, was apprehended after police observed him engaging in suspicious activities near a tin-sheet fodder shed on the farm premises. As the ANTF team surrounded the area, Nimbaram attempted to flee but was swiftly captured. During subsequent interrogation, investigators uncovered that Nimbaram, a farmer with education only up to Class 5, was allegedly enticed into setting up the drug lab by his relative Omprakash and an associate named Shaitan. These individuals reportedly promised him significant financial profits from the illegal venture.
Police revealed that Nimbaram had purchased the necessary chemicals approximately 10 to 15 days prior to the raid and had begun preliminary preparations to manufacture MD using improvised methods. Fortunately, the ANTF intervention occurred while the operation was still in its early stages, preventing the full-scale production and distribution of the synthetic drugs. Authorities also noted that Nimbaram has a prior assault case registered against him at the Dhorimanna police station in Barmer.
