Rajasthan Police SOG to Question 37 Constables in Jalore Fake Recruitment Case

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police plans to summon thirty-seven police constables in Jalore district for questioning. These constables face accusations of securing their jobs through forged documents and dummy candidates. This action follows the registration of two separate FIRs by the SOG on Saturday.

Details of the Case and Accusations

One unidentified individual joins the thirty-seven constables named as accused in these FIRs. The SOG will now record individual statements from each person. This step aims to determine the specific role of every accused before moving forward with further legal proceedings.

The case first came to light during a recruitment audit. The Rajasthan Police Recruitment and Promotion Board initiated this audit in July 2024. Later, the board wrote to the Jalore police, instructing them to conduct a proper investigation.

Parish Deshmukh, DIG of the SOG, provided details on Monday. He stated, "We received the details from the Jalore police and started the probe. We are likely to send them notices to appear before us."

Discovery of Signature Mismatches

A probe committee formed by the Jalore Superintendent of Police confirmed significant mismatches. These discrepancies involve signatures on educational certificates submitted during recruitment and those found in current service records.

Based on the committee's report, the SOG registered the two FIRs on Saturday and launched its investigation. A senior police officer in Jalore explained the situation on Monday.

The officer said, "Discrepancies were noticed during promotion-related verification. Signatures of some serving constables did not match with those submitted during their recruitment process. This raised serious doubts about whether the candidates who appeared in the exams were the same as those now serving in the police force."

Scope of the Investigation

According to officers, the SOG's probe also covers cases involving fake educational certificates. Acting on directions from the recruitment and promotion board, recruitments carried out in Jalore district over the past five years are under scrutiny.

The first FIR includes cases registered against eleven constables. The second FIR names twenty-six constables. The investigation is being supervised by the Additional Superintendent of Police, SOG, based in Jaipur.

Officers stated that the SOG will verify several key elements:

  • Documents submitted during recruitment
  • Examination records
  • Question the accused to establish if dummy candidates were used

This thorough verification process aims to uncover the full extent of the alleged fraud and ensure accountability within the police recruitment system.
