Rajkot Crime Branch Takes Action Against Organized Crime Syndicate
In a significant crackdown on organized criminal activities, the Rajkot City Crime Branch has officially booked twelve members of the notorious Shamji Maka gang under the stringent Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act. This legal action targets their alleged involvement in a series of criminal operations within the jurisdiction of the Thorala police station, marking a decisive move by law enforcement to dismantle the gang's network.
Gang's Decade-Long Reign of Terror Uncovered
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagdish Bangarwa, the Shamji Maka gang has been actively engaged in criminal enterprises from 2016 through 2025. Over this nearly ten-year period, the gang is linked to a staggering total of twenty-two serious offences that have plagued the region. The deputy commissioner provided detailed insights into the nature of these crimes, emphasizing the gang's broad and violent criminal portfolio.
Key offences attributed to the gang include:
- Attempted murder cases that endangered public safety.
- Grievous assaults resulting in severe injuries to victims.
- Kidnapping incidents that instilled fear in the community.
- Robberies targeting businesses and individuals for financial gain.
- Formation and operation of organized criminal gangs to facilitate illegal activities.
- Obstruction of government officials in the discharge of their official duties, undermining law and order.
DCP Bangarwa stated, "These criminal acts represent a systematic threat to societal peace and security, necessitating the application of the GujCTOC Act to ensure stringent legal consequences." The use of this act highlights the gravity of the gang's operations, as it is designed to combat terrorism and organized crime with enhanced penalties and investigative powers.
Arrests Made as Investigation Intensifies
In connection with this case, the Rajkot Crime Branch has successfully arrested eight of the accused gang members so far. The arrested individuals have been identified as:

- Dilip alias Dilo Chauhan
- Chirag alias Bhaylu Makwana
- Kiran Khimsuriya
- Ajay Jadav
- Gautam alias Gogo Baraiya
- Nagesh alias Lalu Makwana
- Mehul Solanki
These arrests are part of an ongoing investigation aimed at apprehending all involved parties and gathering evidence to support the charges under the GujCTOC Act.
