Ratlam Police Uncover Major MD Drug Manufacturing Unit in Poultry Farm Raid
In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the Ratlam police conducted a late-night raid that led to the bust of a clandestine MD drug manufacturing unit operating from a poultry farm in Borkheda village. The operation resulted in the arrest of four individuals, including the mastermind Jamshed Khan, who had been evading law enforcement for months.
Details of the Late-Night Operation
Acting on specific intelligence, Ratlam Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar led the raid around 11:55 PM on Monday. The target was a farm situated on a hillock within the village, which had been converted into an illegal synthetic drug production facility. Police swiftly cordoned off the area from all sides to prevent any escapes.
Inside the farm, officers discovered four men actively engaged in manufacturing MD using sophisticated chemical processes. Upon spotting the police, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended after a brief chase. The operation extended until approximately 9:00 AM on Tuesday, ensuring thorough evidence collection.
Substantial Seizures and Arrests Made
Authorities confiscated narcotics, precursor chemicals, and equipment with an estimated total value of around Rs 80 lakh. Key items recovered included approximately 200 grams of MD, valued at nearly Rs 20 lakh, along with gas cylinders, a stove, furnace, dryer machine, electric boards, plastic cans, steel trays, a churning machine, and various other processing tools. Additionally, three mobile phones and a multi-utility vehicle were seized.
The arrested individuals were identified as Rais Khan (35), Yusuf Khan (45), Salim alias Raju Khan (40), and Jamshed Khan alias Seth (42), a resident of Devaldi in Rajasthan. A formal case has been registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Piploda police station.
Investigation Reveals Organized Drug Network
During the investigation, it was revealed that the poultry farm belonged to Salim alias Raju, while the entire manufacturing operation was orchestrated by Jamshed Khan. Jamshed had been absconding in connection with a prior NDPS case filed by Mandsaur police and had been hiding at the farm for the past three to four months. He operated the illegal unit with assistance from the co-accused and a local village watchman.
Police described Jamshed, also known as Lala, as an interstate drug manufacturer and supplier with multiple cases registered against him in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. Within drug trafficking circles, he was allegedly referred to by the code name 'doctor' due to his expertise in synthesizing MD.
Broader Implications and Ongoing Efforts
Preliminary interrogations disclosed that the chemicals used in the manufacturing process were sourced from Pratapgarh in Rajasthan through suppliers named Arbaz and Sakariya. Investigators also uncovered that nearly 3 kilograms of MD had been supplied to a party just one day before the raid, indicating an active and extensive distribution network.
This bust has exposed a larger organized drug manufacturing and supply chain operating across state lines. Police are now intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend other members involved in this illicit network to dismantle it completely.
