Ravan Gang Busted: Four Notorious Criminals Nabbed in Temple Parking Shootout

In a dramatic late-night operation, the Gujarat Police's State Monitoring Cell (SMC) arrested four alleged members of Madhya Pradesh's infamous 'Ravan Gang' following a brief gunfight in Bilimora town. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the parking lot of Mahadev Temple, where the accused had gathered for an illegal arms deal.

The Shootout and Arrest Details

The confrontation unfolded when police officers attempted to apprehend the gang members. According to official reports, Yashsingh Sundersingh opened fire on the police team, discharging two rounds toward them. In response, Police Inspector C H Panara returned fire, resulting in Yashsingh sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg.

The four arrested individuals have been identified as: Rishabh Ashok Sharma alias Ravan from Madhya Pradesh, Yashsingh Sundersingh from Haryana, and Manish Kaluram Kumavat and Madan Gopiram Kumavat, both hailing from Rajasthan.

Police recovered significant evidence from the scene, including three pistols and twenty-five cartridges. The accused have been charged under the Arms Act and attempt to murder provisions.

Criminal Background and Planned Operations

State Monitoring Cell DIG Nirlipt Rai revealed that the gang leader, Rishabh Sharma alias Ravan, has an extensive criminal record spanning multiple states. 'Ravan' has been involved in serious crimes including murder, narcotics trafficking, extortion, and illegal arms trade across Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Investigations indicate that the group was planning major criminal activities in both Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh. Manish Kumavat, who had been operating a grocery shop in Bilimora while living with his wife and 12-year-old son, had specifically requested Rishabh to supply weapons for planned crimes in Mumbai.

The gang had also plotted to rob a jewellery firm in Madhya Pradesh before their plans were thwarted by police intervention. According to police sources, all four accused traveled to Bilimora by train while carrying the illegal weapons.

Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Following medical treatment for his gunshot wound, Yashsingh was discharged from a private hospital. All four accused are scheduled to be produced before the Gandevi court in Navsari district for police remand.

The Gujarat Police continue to investigate the extent of the gang's network within Gujarat and whether they had planned any criminal operations within the state. DIG Rai emphasized that all four individuals are noted criminals with multiple cases registered against them in different states, describing Yashsingh as a known sharpshooter.

This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of interstate police cooperation in combating organized crime networks operating across state boundaries.
