Red Fort Blast: Police Track Car Through CCTV Footage

Massive Investigation Launched After Red Fort Explosion

Delhi Police has made significant breakthroughs in the investigation of the Red Fort blast, identifying a 34-year-old resident from Pulwama as the person who purchased the Hyundai i20 vehicle used in the explosion. The intensive probe has involved multiple specialized teams scanning over 100 CCTV cameras across the national capital.

Detailed CCTV Analysis Reveals Car's Movement

Through meticulous examination of surveillance footage, investigators have determined that the suspect vehicle entered Delhi from the Badarpur toll booth via Faridabad road at approximately 8:13 am on Monday. The car was last captured on a CCTV camera at a petrol pump near Modi Mill in the Okhla industrial area around 8:20 am the same day.

According to police sources, the Hyundai i20 was purchased on October 29, and investigators are currently gathering substantial evidence before publicly revealing the identity of the Pulwama resident connected to the vehicle purchase.

Multiple specialized units of the Delhi Police have been deployed with specific assignments. While one team focuses on tracking the car's movement before it entered Delhi, another team is dedicated to reviewing footage to trace the vehicle's path within the national capital territory.

Critical Evidence Collection at Blast Site

Raja Banthia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North district), confirmed that a First Information Report has been registered at Kotwali Police Station. The case includes sections under the UAPA, Explosives Act, and BNS.

"Teams from the NSG, Delhi Police, and FSL are present at the spot and are investigating the entire crime scene. The investigation is ongoing," stated Banthia.

In a significant development, the officer revealed that body parts were found inside the vehicle where the explosion occurred. Forensic Science Laboratory teams are currently collecting these remains to establish connections and determine the exact sequence of events leading to the blast.

Vehicle's Movements Before Explosion

CCTV footage analysis shows the vehicle entered a parking area adjacent to the Red Fort at 3:19 pm and exited at 6:48 pm on Monday. Sources indicate that heavy traffic was visible when the car left the parking lot.

The investigation has tracked the car's presence in several key locations including Darya Ganj, Red Fort area, Kashmere Gate, and near Sunehri Masjid. Parking lot surveillance footage purportedly shows an individual in the driver's seat collecting what appears to be a parking slip.

While Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha mentioned that the car had multiple occupants, available CCTV footage reviewed by investigators appears to show only one individual. Officials are examining whether additional persons joined the driver later during the vehicle's movements.

The extensive investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the complete timeline and identify all individuals involved in the security incident that has raised concerns across the capital.
