A retired additional superintendent of police (ASP) allegedly died by suicide at his residence in the Lalsagar area under Mandore police station limits on Thursday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Dashrath Singh Charan, a native of Nagaur district, who retired from service nearly two years ago.
Recent Move to Jodhpur
According to police, Charan had recently constructed a house in Lalsagar and shifted there with his wife about a week ago after living in Jaipur for the past few years. The couple had just settled into their new home when the tragic incident occurred.
Incident Details
Preliminary investigation reveals that Charan's wife had gone to visit a relative when the incident took place. Upon returning home, she found him hanging and immediately alerted family members. Relatives brought him down and rushed him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Mandore Station House Officer Sheshkaran stated that police received information about the incident around 4 pm. The body has been kept at the mortuary of Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination.
Possible Motive Under Investigation
Police suspect that Charan had been under mental stress for some time; however, the exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be established. His son is currently living in Delhi with his family. Police have initiated further investigation to uncover any underlying factors that may have contributed to this tragic event.
Authorities are also examining Charan's recent activities and interactions to determine if any specific trigger led to the suicide. The postmortem report is awaited to rule out any foul play.
