A notorious rowdy-sheeter was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly creating a disturbance at a bar, assaulting police personnel, and fleeing the scene in Karnataka's Haliyal town, police said.

The accused, identified as a history-sheeter with multiple cases against him, reportedly consumed alcohol at a local bar on Monday evening and began causing a ruckus. When police arrived at the scene, the accused allegedly assaulted the officers and managed to escape.
According to police officials, the accused was known for his criminal activities and had been involved in several previous cases. The incident occurred in the heart of Haliyal town, leading to panic among locals.
Arrest and Legal Action
A manhunt was launched immediately after the incident, and the accused was apprehended from a hideout in a nearby area. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for assaulting public servants and creating public nuisance.
"The accused was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody. We are investigating the matter further," said a senior police officer from Haliyal police station.
Background of the Accused
The rowdy-sheeter had a history of involvement in criminal activities, including theft, assault, and intimidation. Police sources revealed that he was a repeat offender and had been arrested multiple times in the past.
Local residents expressed relief over the arrest, stating that the accused had been a source of fear in the area. "He would often create trouble after drinking. We are glad the police acted swiftly," said a shopkeeper near the bar.
The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by Karnataka police to crack down on habitual offenders and maintain law and order in the region.
