RPF Head Constable's Heroic Rescue Averts Tragedy at Parbhani Railway Station

In a dramatic display of bravery and quick thinking, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) head constable saved a passenger's life at Parbhani railway station on Sunday. The incident occurred as the Nagersol–Narsapur Express arrived at the station, with passengers boarding the general coach.

Timely Intervention Prevents Fatal Accident

According to Rajesh Shinde, chief publicity inspector of the Nanded division of South Central Railway, head constable Padmakar Mogare was performing crime-prevention duty on platform number 1 when the emergency unfolded. As passengers were boarding the train, one individual slipped and became trapped in the perilous gap between the moving train and the platform edge.

"Displaying exceptional promptness and courage, Mogare rushed to the spot and successfully pulled the passenger to safety, thereby averting what could have been a tragic accident," Shinde stated. The rescued passenger was identified as Sheikh Mohammed, who was traveling from Parbhani to Nanded.

Separate Incident: Lost Property Recovered

In another positive development on the same day, RPF personnel and railway authorities at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar station recovered and returned a purse belonging to a female passenger from Pune. The passenger had accidentally left the bag behind, which contained:

  • Cash
  • Debit cards
  • Credit cards

The timely recovery and return of the valuable items demonstrated the RPF's commitment to passenger assistance beyond security duties.

Vandalism and Assault Incident Under Investigation

While celebrating the successful rescue operation, RPF authorities are simultaneously investigating a separate incident of vandalism and assault at Parbhani Railway Station. An unidentified individual was caught breaking a lift door lock and deliberately smashing a CCTV camera installed inside the lift.

Electrical maintenance staff on duty intervened to stop the destruction, but the situation escalated when the suspect became aggressive. "The person verbally abused and physically assaulted the staff member who tried to intervene," Shinde explained.

Despite the assault, the courageous staff member managed to photograph the individual before he fled the scene. The RPF is currently using this photographic evidence to track down and identify the suspect involved in the vandalism and assault.

These contrasting incidents highlight both the heroic actions of railway personnel in protecting passengers and the ongoing challenges they face in maintaining security and order at railway stations across the region.
