RPF Jalpaiguri Detains 14 Bangladeshi Nationals with Counterfeit Aadhaar Cards on Delhi-Bound Train
In a significant security operation, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Jalpaiguri apprehended 14 Bangladesh nationals, including four minors, from the Delhi-bound Northeast Express at Jalpaiguri Road station on Wednesday night. The individuals were found to be in possession of fake Aadhaar cards, raising serious concerns about document fraud and border security vulnerabilities.
Details of the Apprehension and Recovered Items
The RPF officials conducted a thorough check during which they discovered that the Bangladeshi nationals were carrying counterfeit Aadhaar cards. Additionally, several mobile phones were recovered from the group. Notably, one of the apprehended individuals was found with a Bangladeshi SIM card, further indicating their foreign origins and potential illegal activities.
Background and Suspected Entry Route
According to RPF officials, the 14 Bangladeshis hail from Barabadura village under Morelganj Police Station in the Bagerhat district of Bangladesh. It is believed that they entered India through the porous Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura. From there, they boarded the Northeast Express at Kamakhya station in Assam, with the intention of traveling to Delhi.
In Delhi, the men were likely seeking employment as daily wage laborers, while the women aimed to work as domestic helpers, highlighting the economic motivations behind their journey.
Ongoing Investigation into Document Fraud
An investigation is currently underway to determine how and from where the apprehended individuals acquired the fake Aadhaar cards. Authorities are focusing on uncovering the networks involved in producing and distributing such fraudulent documents, which pose a threat to national security and identity verification systems.
This incident underscores the challenges faced by Indian security forces in monitoring and securing the extensive border with Bangladesh, as well as the need for enhanced vigilance in document verification processes.
