Police in Sambalpur have cracked a significant industrial theft case. They arrested two people and exposed a racket that diverted valuable materials.
How the Theft Unfolded
A truck loaded with industrial wire rods left Dhenkanal on January 11. It was heading for Raipur. The truck never arrived at its destination by January 13. This raised immediate suspicions.
Cyber-Tracking Leads to Breakthrough
Investigators used digital tracking methods. They discovered that the truck driver, Jhanak Nayak, contacted a man named Pradip Mohanty. Pradip lives in Shantinagar. Police questioned Pradip thoroughly.
Pradip revealed the driver's plan. Jhanak Nayak intended to sell the wire rods illegally. He reached out to Nisar Ahmed for this purpose. Nisar works as a scrap dealer in Sunapali.
Hiding the Stolen Goods
The conspirators unloaded the wire rods near Goshala. They hid the materials there. Then they abandoned the truck near Sohela Degree College in Bargarh. This attempt to cover their tracks failed.
Police Action and Seizures
Sambalpur police acted swiftly. They recovered the stolen wire rods from the hiding spot. Officers also seized the abandoned truck. Police confiscated a car used during the crime as well.
Authorities arrested Pradip Mohanty and Nisar Ahmed. Both men now face legal charges. The main suspect, truck driver Jhanak Nayak, remains at large. Police continue their search for him.
