Satara Police Nab Two Kolhapur Men in Major Heroin Bust
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Satara police arrested two individuals from Kolhapur for allegedly possessing heroin with an estimated market value of approximately Rs 9 lakh. The operation unfolded on Tuesday night in the Shendra area, where law enforcement acted swiftly on a tip-off about an impending drug sale.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
The two accused, identified as Alankar Mulik and Akshay Patil, were apprehended by a special team from the detection branch of the Satara taluka police station. According to official reports, the police had received credible information that the duo was arriving in a car to Shendra with the intent to sell narcotics. Upon interception, authorities recovered 12 grams of heroin from their possession.
Satara's Superintendent of Police, Tushar Doshi, confirmed the arrests and stated that the accused have been booked under sections 8 and 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. These sections pertain to the prohibition, control, and regulation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, highlighting the seriousness of the charges.
